It seems appropriate to start my blog with an introduction, right!? So .... Hello, beautiful people. My name is Crystal Rogers and I am the owner and primary makeup artist of Bonnie Jean Beauty. It is safe to say that beauty is my passion and always has been. I'm sure every makeup artists bio tells you a story of how they discovered their love of makeup at a very young age. My story is no different so I won't bore you with it. Just know that my grandmother, Bonnie Jean has everything to do with the artist I am today. She molded me, encouraged me and supported my silly little dreams of making people feel pretty. I say silly because many can't fathom a career in beauty .... will you sustain? what about benefits? 401k? retirement? will you make enough? Happiness is worth all of those questions. It took me many years of working retail, corporate and medical jobs to find my way back to the one thing that fulfills me. I never wake up cringing at the thought of work. Every single day I get to pamper women (and men) and makeup them feel beautiful. My clients have become friends. I'm watching young girls grow into women - providing makeup on their most special days .... birthdays, prom, senior photos, graduation, bridal showers, marriage, bridal showers and so on. It's an incredible journey I take with these women. I would never ever trade that. In additional to makeup, I am also a licensed esthetician. I take great pride in helping anyone target and treat their skin care concerns. Great makeup starts with great skin. It is my sincere desire to enable everyone to feel comfortable walking around in their bare skin.
Beyond the makeup, I am a wife and mother of two boys. My family is EVERYTHING! My husband is my absolute best friend and my boys give me purpose. Since I am surrounded by boys my life is a huge contrast. When I am not making women feel beautiful - I am in a gym watching my husband officiate basketball, my oldest son scoring goals on the soccer field and my tiny tot is right behind them. My husband also works for our local baseball team, the Charleston Riverdogs so we spend a lot of time at "The Joe" as well. Needless to say, you probably won't catch me full face makeup or with perfectly polished hair. There is no question I take every opportunity to doll up but when I am running around with these guys, there is really no point! I LOVE being surrounded by their love and admiration. The make me whole.
